Velocity Motorworks, a high-performance and specialty automotive shop in Raleigh, NC, is seeking an experienced Autosport Technician to join our team. If you are passionate about performance vehicles and have expertise in LS engine swaps, pro-touring, classic, or performance cars in general, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Position Description and Responsibilities:
As an Automotive Technician at Velocity Motorworks, you will be responsible for working with domestic classic and late model performance vehicles. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Vehicle Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct diagnostic assessments, perform maintenance tasks, and complete repairs on vehicles. Proactively assess vehicle condition and document recommended additional repairs.
- Classic and Late Model Performance Vehicles: Execute repairs, modifications, assemblies, fabrications, engine/transmission replacements, and electrical harness replacements. Assist in parts research for assigned custom and project vehicles. Gain a thorough understanding of customer needs and goals for each assigned project.
- Business Operations Support: Provide assistance with various business operational functions as needed. Periodically address customer inquiries and discuss the progress of their projects.
- Facility Organization and Cleanliness: Maintain a high level of organization and cleanliness throughout the entire facility.
Must-Have Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Outstanding Attitude and Work Ethic: Display a positive attitude, genuine love for performance vehicles, and a strong work ethic.
- Professional Experience: Possess a minimum of 3 years of professional experience and proficiency in diagnosing and repairing domestic vehicle engine, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, air conditioning, and transmission replacements.
- High-Performance or Classic Vehicle Expertise: Demonstrate experience in high-performance or classic vehicle modification and repair.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in using online technical manuals, accessing service data, MS Excel, and shop management systems such as Mitchel1, Shop-Key, or Shop-Ware.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and customers.
- Time Management and Organization: Display strong time management, organization skills, and attention to detail.
- Process Adherence and Documentation: Capable of following processes and documenting project work.
- Self-Motivation and Teamwork: Possess self-motivation and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Desire for Learning and Improvement: Show a strong desire to learn new skills/methods and enhance current skill sets.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications would be advantageous:
- Automotive Education: Completion of programs at NASCAR Technical Institute, UTI, Hennessey Performance School, SAM, or similar automotive education institutions.
- EFI Calibration/Tuning and Chassis Dyno Operation: Experience in EFI calibration/tuning and chassis dyno operation for GM, BMW, Ford, or Mopar vehicles.
- Race Car Setup and Suspension Expertise: Proficiency in race car setup, corner balancing, alignments, and suspension adjustments.
- Classic Vehicle Restoration: Experience in classic vehicle restoration.
- Shop-Ware Proficiency: Familiarity with Shop-Ware or equivalent shop data management software.
- ASE Certification: Possession of ASE certification.
- Fabrication, Machining, and Welding: Experience or certifications in fabrication, machining, and welding.
- 4-Wheel Alignments: Proficiency in performing 4-wheel alignments.
- BMW Vehicles Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of BMW vehicles.
- Oscilloscope Diagnostics: Familiarity with using oscilloscopes for diagnostics.
Compensation:
The compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and skills. Velocity Motorworks offers paid holidays and vacation time. This is a full-time position.
